Bokkz is a reader for books you already own. You keep your books and your notes; we keep the service running and stay out of your way. Be decent, don't abuse the service, and we'll do the same.
Accepting these terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of Bokkz — our apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and the web, together with the sync service that keeps them in step. By creating an account or using Bokkz, you agree to these terms.
If you don’t agree, that’s okay — simply don’t use the service. You can stop at any time and take your books and notes with you.
Your account
You’re responsible for keeping your account secure. Use a strong password, and let us know promptly if you believe someone else has access. You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account.
One person, one account. You may read on as many of your own devices as you like, but please don’t share login credentials.
Your books and ownership
Bokkz does not sell books. You bring files you already own — DRM-free EPUB, PDF, and MOBI — and we render and organize them for you. We make no claim to your books.
You agree only to import content you have the right to read, and not to use Bokkz to store or distribute material that infringes someone else’s rights. We don’t scan the contents of your books to advertise to you, and we never will.
Notes, highlights and your content
Your highlights, notes, bookmarks, and reading position belong to you. We store them so we can sync them across your devices, and for nothing else.
You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the service — to transmit, back up, and display your content to you. You can export everything to Markdown, or delete it, at any time.
Acceptable use
To keep Bokkz reliable for everyone, please don’t:
- Reverse-engineer, resell, or attempt to disrupt the service.
- Upload content you don’t have the right to use.
- Abuse sync or storage in ways that degrade the service for others.
- Use Bokkz to harass, harm, or violate the rights of anyone.
Plans and billing
The Reader plan is free. Paid plans (Bokkz and Family) are billed monthly or yearly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; your plan stays active through the period you’ve paid for, after which you return to the free Reader plan.
If we change prices, we’ll tell you before your next renewal. Taxes may apply depending on where you live.
Suspension and termination
You may close your account whenever you wish. We may suspend or end an account that violates these terms or puts the service or other readers at risk — and where reasonable, we’ll give you notice and a chance to put things right first.
Disclaimers and liability
Bokkz is provided "as is." We work hard to keep sync fast and your library safe, but we can’t promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous twelve months.
Keep your own copies of irreplaceable files. Bokkz is a reader, not a backup service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Bokkz evolves. If we make a material change, we’ll notify you in the app and update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Bokkz after a change means you accept the revised terms.
