The short version

We don't track what you read, run ads, or sell your data. We collect the little we need to sync your library and keep your account secure — and your notes are private by default.

01

Our privacy principles

Bokkz is built on a simple idea: reading is private. We designed the service to collect as little as possible, to keep your notes to yourself, and to make leaving easy.

  • No advertising, ever — we make money from subscriptions, not your attention.
  • We don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
  • We don’t analyze the contents of your books to profile you.
  • Your highlights and notes are private by default.
02

What we collect

To run the service, we collect only a few things: the email and password you use to sign in; your library metadata (titles, covers, reading position, bookmarks, and notes) so we can sync it; and basic technical data such as device type and app version to keep things working.

We do not collect your location, your contacts, or the text of your books for any purpose beyond rendering them on your own devices.

03

How we use it

We use your information to sync your reading across your devices, keep your account secure, provide support when you ask for it, and process payments for paid plans. That’s the full list.

We may send you essential service messages (a password reset, a billing notice). Marketing email is opt-in, and you can unsubscribe in one tap.

04

Where your data lives

Your library is stored encrypted in transit and at rest. Reading position and notes are kept so they can sync; you can wipe a device’s local copy without deleting your account, and deleting your account removes your synced data.

We keep backups for a short window to recover from accidents, after which deleted data ages out of our systems.

05

When we share

We share data only with the service providers we need to operate — for example, our cloud hosting and payment processor — and only the minimum required. They’re bound to protect it and may not use it for their own ends.

We may disclose information if the law clearly requires it. If that ever happens and we’re permitted to tell you, we will.

06

Your rights and controls

You can access, export, correct, or delete your data at any time from Settings. Export your notes to Markdown, download your library metadata, or delete your account entirely — no email to support required.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We honor those requests for everyone, everywhere.

07

Cookies and the web reader

The web reader uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and remember your reading preferences. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

08

Contacting us
